Effective Emergency Response and Calmness in the Face of Earthquakes | Kelai Conducts Earthquake Emergency Drill

2024-04-01 13:32:10

Recently, Shanghai Kelai Mechatronics Engineering Co., Ltd. conducted its 2024 earthquake emergency evacuation drill. Participating were Xu Wenzhong, Deputy Director of the Baoshan District Emergency Management Bureau; Wang Dong, Deputy Director of the Baoshan High-tech Industrial Park Management Committee; Hua Jun, Director of the Emergency Command Department of the Baoshan District Emergency Management Bureau; and Qian Xiaochun, Head of the Safety Office of the Baoshan High-tech Industrial Park.

To ensure the drill’s effectiveness, the company formed a leadership group and held a planning meeting. Three teams were established: logistics support, medical support, and fire-fighting and rescue.

The drill simulated a magnitude 4.2 earthquake in Baoshan District (121.48°E, 31.40°N). Based on the emergency response plan, the exercise included three phases: evacuation, first aid, and fire control.

When the alarm sounded, workshop staff quickly covered their heads and evacuated in an orderly manner through the west door. Upon reaching the assembly point, team leaders counted their members and reported to the workshop supervisor, who then informed the chief commander.

One person was reported trapped with a leg injury. The chief commander immediately dispatched the emergency rescue team with medical kits and stretchers. They checked the person’s vital signs, examined injuries, and provided initial treatment before carrying the person out on a stretcher. The logistics team then moved the injured to a safe area to await medical assistance.

After the earthquake caused an electrical short and fire, the fire-fighting team was sent in to extinguish the flames. Once the fire was out, they conducted a second check and confirmed no further danger. All teams then assembled in front of the main stage. Xu Wenzhong praised the drill for its organization and the team’s responsiveness. He emphasized that safety is critical and urged everyone to improve safety awareness and emergency skills. He encouraged mastering basic self-rescue and mutual aid techniques.

The drill helped employees understand how to respond during an earthquake, improved their emergency response and evacuation skills, and strengthened coordination during crises. Going forward, Keli Electric Machinery will continue to conduct regular safety training and drills to ensure safety remains a top priority.
